?Are these ex Dutch coasters still trading?

Post by ben »

I am looking for more information and photo's about the following coasters:

Svarte Rudolf - 1936 - ex Duurswold - Imonr. 5017826 - in 1988 in use as a pub, but Equasis says still in use as an cargoship.

Gny - 1946 - ex Farmsum - nr. 5138917 -still in use in Denmark?

Gratia - 1946 - ex Pacific - nr. 5135214 - 1990 laid up at Stockholm - still listed by Lloyd's - used as a barge and since when?

Jatta - 1932 - ex Fakir - nr. 8780125 - 1991 lying "high and dry" at a yard in Helsinki as Simona. Later Simone and in 2000 renamed Jatta and again trading says Equasis.

These questions, like the Wartena question, are only for private use!

Gratia is in the Hammarby chanal since a couple of years back, she is used as a pleasure ship.

As far as I can see, she has not moved for 3-5yrs or so.....

The DUURSWOLD, later ANIKA nad SVARTE RUDOLF is currenlty lying in Turku river as a restaurant. She was rebuilt to this new task in 1988 and her original Brons-engine and all original interior was removed. And, of course a box-like deckhouse was added. In the passing years she does not look anything like a real ship. Even new large portholes were cut in her stern. The food onboard is good, though. Even if it surely is sad to see her as she is today. In her time in Finland from the early 60s she traded almost solely on the sand trade from Borgå to Helsinki. Her woners in Finland came from Borgå. On the same trade was the PROGRES, FAKIR which became ZENITA also from Borgå. In ealry 1984 she was sold within Fnland and was renamed to JATTA. She never traded under her new owner and was laid up for many years in Savonlinna at Lake Saimaa. In 1990 she found her way to Helsinki for again new owners who named her as SIMONA. The owners had some "problems" with a bankcrupcy and were put in prison. The ship was dry on the Vuosaari dry dock. A conversion work had started onboard to make her interior brand new, including a new engine. However when the owners disappeared she was left to vandalism and soon everything was damaged beyond repair caused by looters and rainwater. I tried to aquire her for some time ago to in order to sell her as a house boat but she had claims over her so it was not possible to buy her. Sadly she was cut in pieces on the spot in 2004. Of the both vessels I do have plenty photos but since I am sailing now I do not have access to my photo collection and I must come back later.

Gny is registrated in the norwegian ordinary ships register (NOR) with the signal letters LHXX. The reason why she is not in the Norsk Illustreret Skipsliste is that the list only counts the vessels larger than 150 GT/GRT ... Gny is measuring 149,72 GRT (has not been re-measured according to the new /GT) rules).

Current homeport (since December 19th, 1966!!!) is Aalesund, Norway. Current owner is Nybruse AS, Kristiansund N / Norway, who bought the coaster on May 3rd, 1993.

There are rumours that a Swedish shipbroker has for sale an ex-Dutch coaster, flying the flag of Norway, built in the years 1950-1960 about 500 tons deadweight? Does anyone has an idea?

The Dutch coaster Robox, 1956 built at Martenshoek, imonr. 5298107 is still trading as Jolanda in Scandinavia. Does anyone has a recent photo of her?

Hello Ben,

I have photos of JOLANDA and GRATIA. Send me your address so I can send paperbacks photos to You, I have no scanner. JOLANDA was owned by a Finnish Captain for almost 15 years.
